Dear John, Last night, I made a claim and then stated how I would play the cards. My claim was accepted by both opponents. However, my opponents were new players. When my right hand opponent faced her remaining cards, I saw that she had a trump left in her hand of which I was unaware. She would have won one more trick if we had actually played the cards as I had claimed. My partner had already entered the score because the claim had been accepted. Was I obligated to have the score changed? Thanks for any help you can give. My two cents worth, By rights, the claim was not contested, so the score may stand and you are not required to have the score adjusted, but for newer players upon seeing the situation like this, it would probably be a good idea call the director the first time to point it out so they gain some experience and learn about their rights to contest a claim. Sometimes, newer players have an aversion to calling the director for fear of making waves or not wanting to offend others at the table. The purpose of a director is to restore equity if there is a problem at the table. A word of advice for folks when a claim is made when there are outstanding trumps and no indication is made that the trumps will be pulled before other cards are played, call the director. You will be awarded the trick if it is at all possible you could have scored the trick as director may assume a sub-standard level of play by the person who made the questionable claim. John
